Gordon Kuang, C.S.C.S.

Dr. Kuang received his doctorate in chiropractic medicine from the National University of Health sciences. He graduated from State University at Buffalo with a Bachelor of Arts in mental health, and received his Bachelor of Sciences in human biology. He is also a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He is certified in COX flexion - distraction technique and practices a variety of different manual techniques from basic muscles work to movement pattern analysis, which is his specialty. Dr. Kuang has licensure in Acupuncture in Illinois and is currently fulfilling requirements for licensure in New York State. He lectures for the community on various issues from nutrition to injury prevention, including the NY City Department of School Health, Bay Ridge Center for Adults, and the New York Sports Clubs.

What does he do?

Dr. Kuang uses movement pattern analysis to evaluate and determine what your treatment plan will consist of. Faulty movement patterns (sedentary lifestyle, trauma induced, etc…) in your body cause muscular imbalance usually in a systematic and predictable fashion. He finds the problem whether it be weak core musculature or a herniated disc and creates a treatment plan that encompasses the road from relieving immediate pain to showing you the exercises and stretches that will help prevent this pain from occurring again. The chiropractic adjustment is a way to passively stretch and add stress relief to the joints involved. Rehabilitation helps achieve these longer preventative goals that everyone should be aware of. Rehabilitation of the motor system is concerned with restoration of function, not merely pain relief. Treatment usually can consist of these techniques: chiropractic adjustment, stretching, manual muscle work, therapeutic exercise, cold laser therapy, traction, electric muscle stimulation, functional training, and strength training. The ultimate goal of care is to improve a patient's physical performance capacity so that they can handle the demands of their activities of daily life or job.

Dr. Kuang offers nutritional programs that are developed through the use of laboratory testing of blood, saliva, and urine. He can test everything from cholesterol to neurotransmitters and hormones to ensure your body is functioning at its fullest potential. The goals generally focused on by patients are weight-loss, anti-aging, and peak performance training, all of which involves maintaining overall wellness and last about 6 months. Evaluation and costs depend on how comprehensive the patient is interested in getting with their health and the amount of laboratory testing and supplementation needed. Generally there is a nutritional survey, internal and external stress test survey, hormonal screening questionnaire, cognitive screening, and an interpretation of a 5-7 day food diary. Nutrition offers a variety of potential alternatives and adjuncts for people who are trying not to take too much prescription medicine or just want to stay healthy. Health insurance generally only covers a portion of this and cash, check, or credit pays for the rest.
